About Sayo

My name is Sayo Oludare Oguntokun. I am the second born and the second son of Mr. & Chief (Mrs) Samson Gbadegesin Oguntokun of Bolorunduro compound of Ife-Odan in Ejigbo local government of Osun state living at C203, Bolorunduro, Ikire-Ile road, Ogbaagbaa in Ola-Oluwa local government of the same state. I have three siblings (one female and two brothers).

I finished my secondary education from Ogbaagbaa Community Grammar School, Ogbaagbaa in the year 2001. I proceeded Federal Polytechnic, Ede in Osun state from 2002 to 2008 for my National Diploma and Higher National Diploma education in Computer Science interfaced with a year (2005-2006) Industrial Training at Osun State Bureau of Computer Services and Information Technology, Abere. I served at Zamfara State in Junior Secondary School, Wanke situated on the route of Magami from Gusau, the state capital, between March 2009 and February 2010.

I was called on for an appointment as Assistant Technical Officer to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on October 21, 2011, while I resumed on 26 of the same month at CONTISS 05 STEP 2 and there I am till now once promoted to CONTISS 06.

Working with the university has been an opportunity for me to diversify my capability to use in several areas such as the department doing the repair and maintenance of departmental computer systems, departmental network and network facilities, representing the department in workshops and seminars, hardware and software troubleshooting, performing routine checks on systems for optima usage and invigilating tests, mid-semester tests and examinations. I also do practical laboratory duties like supervising students in various practical laboratories performing routine system services and check-ups, installing related software for each practical classes and conduct of practical and grading of students’ laboratory scripts. I am involved in the conduct of laboratory assignments for the following courses:CSC 102, CSC 202, CPE 206, CSC 333, CSC 221, CPE 309, CPE 314, CPE 409, CPE 509, CSC 200, CSC 201 and CSC 300. I have also been involved with OAU Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Duties by preparing all equipment for use, maintenance of equipment and resources in the laboratory, installation of the necessary software for each training and practical, repairing and re-installation of operating systems and other software for use when necessary, performing network testing and troubleshooting in the laboratory, providing technical support (hands-on) for trainers and participants during practicals and training, reporting the state of equipment and making recommendations as necessary as well as coordinating the technical team to work in the laboratory before, during and after each session of training and practical. Another aspect of use is Student Workshop Experience Program(SWEP) Unit of the department through supervising students’ SWEP project in creating interfaces with the use of open-source tools and organizing and supervising seminars and lectures for SWEP students. Multi-site and interactive teaching facility of the university is another active involvement area I have been deeply working immensely.

Before my appointment with the University System, I have worked with Òsun State Bureau of Computer Services and Information Technology as Industrial Based ICT supervisor: 2005 – 2007 with responsibilities such as serving as a liaising officer between the agency and the Office of The Auditor-General for Local Governments of the State, monitoring, managing and maintaining the network deployed to the Office as well as Repairing and maintaining the systems deployed to the Office. After which I worked at Junior Secondary School, Wanke, Gusau Local Government, Zamfara State as National Youth Service Corp 2009 – 2010 where I was saddled with the responsibility of teaching and instructing students on Mathematics and Computer Studies concurrently with participating in Community Development Services (CDS) in the Town (Wanke). I have also worked with Galaxy Backbone, Nigeria as their Site Engineer 2008 – 2009, actively doing Coupling and installation of internet device connectivity Rack, 1.8m Ku. Band Dishes, installation of trunk linking the external and internal units, installation and configuration of connectivity and Stand-by Power supply devices, tracking of the Satellite and ascertain connectivity and serving as a liaising offer between the agency and the parastatals (e.g. NNPC Yola, Research and Information Centre Yola, National Directorate of Employment Lafia, NIMET Lafia, Nigeria Prison Jalingo, Nigeria Law School Bwari Abuja, Federal Secretariat, National Broadcasting Commission and Zonal Police Command, Makurdi among others) to which the units are installed for the delivery period.

I have attended conferences, seminars and workshops such as annual conference of Nigeria Computer Society, Computing and Intelligence Systems Research Group(CISRG) seminars of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, annual International Multi-Conferences on ICT Applications (AICTTRA), Workshop of ETO Investment & Consulting Services Ltd. (Training on FPGA and Embedded Systems Basics) and AGRYMET Regional Centre seminar by MESA Land THEMA on using earth observation for Crop, Rangeland and Bushfire Monitoring among others.

I am a member of some prominent professional bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM (No.:142658), Nigeria Computer Society, NCS (No.:8314) and CompTIA Professional Association.

I got married in 2019 by God’s grace, August 10 to be specific to my wife, Titilayo Florence Oguntokun and we are trusting God for our promising Children.
